Yoga Anatman: Surrendering to the Inner Yogi and Walking Without Self

Yoga Anatman: Surrendering to the Inner Yogi and Walking Without Self

This article is a summary of the Yoga Anatman session of October 23, 2026, a morning suspended between breath and silence, when we learned to let the body walk without us.

There are mornings when surrender ✨ slips into the room before the mats have even been unrolled. This was one of them. Tiphaine, Isabelle, Céline, Cécile and so many others were there, settled into the friendly half-light, ready to bring sound and altered states of consciousness together. And already something was whispering: this session will be unlike any other.

Do you know that feeling 🌱? The one where, the moment the headband rests on your forehead, the body seems to know before you do what it is about to offer. An inner yogi takes the lead. You are no longer leading the dance — you are receiving it.

Alexandre said it from the very first moments: “He’s got big ambitions today, it’s funny.” And all we had to do was consent 🙏.

When the Body Walks Without You

Imagine a thread 🕊️ stretched down from the sky, gently lifting you by the crown of your head. Your feet still touch the ground, yet something in you grows lighter. You are no longer walking — walking is happening. Without an I, without a me.

That is where everything shifts. This October 23 session was a quiet initiation into pure observation 💫, the state in which you become a kindly witness of your own body in motion. A secret passage between posture and freedom.

What if awakening 🌟 were nothing more than this: letting the body live, and simply watching?

The Morning’s Teaching

Sometimes an entire session converges toward a single revelation ✨. This morning, it wore the face of a walk. A walk without a walker.

Alexandre’s central teaching on October 23 crystallized into one simple gesture: press yourself flat against a wall, memorize that perfect verticality, then walk while keeping the invisible thread that suspends your skull from the sky. 🌟

But beyond the gesture lay the teaching of the Non-Self. The one that says: you are not the one who walks. You are the consciousness watching the body walk.

“It walks all by itself. I stay in my feet. I am the observer of the body walking all by itself, without me. Yes, it walks without me — it actually doesn’t need me to walk.”

This sentence is a door 🚪. Step through it and everything changes. Because if the body walks without you, what else happens “without you”? Digestion. Breathing. The beating of your heart. Even your thoughts themselves.

The me then reveals itself for what it is: a superfluous commentator, a narrator taking credit for a dance it does not orchestrate.

And in that freed-up space 🦋, something immense can finally happen: presence. True presence. The kind that takes in the landscape, notices the details, welcomes emotions, feels the sensations in the soles of the feet — without commenting, without judging, without identifying.

Alexandre summed it up with infinite tenderness: “Throughout the day, I am going to learn to remain in this state of observation. All bodily sensations are welcomed, and so are the emotions.”

That is the daily practice of Yoga Anatman. It isn’t an hour on the mat. It is a way of inhabiting every step, every sip at breakfast, every stroll in the forest or along the beach. 🌿

And what about the morning’s Elixir? Alexandre added with a twinkle: “The elixir is on Tuesday.” The date is set, on YouTube, for the psycho-magical structures that will carry this path further. 💫

Realizations During Yoga Anatman

🎁 This 10-minute excerpt of the session’s realizations (in French) is offered to you by ANATMAN TV.

The session opened with a mantra of breathtaking simplicity: “I surrender, my inner yogi, I surrender.” Three times. The way you knock three times on a sacred door before entering. 🌅

Then the headband on the forehead, not yet over the eyes. The arches of the feet take root. The in-breath through the nose becomes an offering. And already the body begins to speak its silent language.

“He’s got big ambitions today, it’s funny. I surrender, I let him do it. He has some rather wild desires.”

That sentence, dropped almost in passing, said it all. The inner yogi ✨ is not a metaphor. It is a living intelligence that inhabits the body and knows, far better than the mind, what we need. This morning, it wanted to go far. And it took us with it.

Stretching as Delight

The hands rise, and rise, and rise. The thumbs hook together. And suddenly the body hangs suspended. You lift yourself, you rise 🌿. Calves, thighs, glutes and abs engage as you come up onto your toes. “I feel my strong, muscular body — gratitude.”

Then Alexandre spoke a key phrase, a transformative mantra: “I join pleasure and stretching together.” 💖 Do you see what that opens up? Every stretch becomes a sacred pleasure. Every fiber that unfolds, a small liberation. The body is no longer a vehicle to be disciplined — it is a temple of delight.

And the mantra rolls on, powerful as a wave: “I release in love everything that keeps me from feeling pleasure. I release in love.” 💞

Circles of the Pelvis, Circles of the Neck

Big circles with the chin first, the whole body following. The lower back finally gets to speak. Then circles of the pelvis, wider and wider. You settle into your hips, into your buttocks. Things are moving. 🦋

There is something primal in these circles. A memory of life itself. The pelvis, seat of the first chakra, loosens and releases what has sometimes lain dormant there for years.

The Posture of Surrender and the Healing of Love

Hands on the lower back, head tilted slightly back, legs straight, glutes engaged. And the mantra rises like a prayer offered to the invisible:

“To life: I love you, I love you, I surrender to you. I trust you, and I am you.”

In that instant, something opens. A heart 💖 that is no longer just a muscle, but a portal. The hands become instruments of healing. Love flows, concrete and palpable.

The Frog and the Breath of Fire

The squat prepares the thighs. The back stays straight, the head held high. Then the frog 🌿 — crouching, gaze forward, body low and steady. The breath of fire bursts forth: exhaling through the nose, the air flowing back in on its own, at its own pace. It’s intense. It heats up. It cleanses.

And as always in Yoga Anatman, kindness comes first: “Everyone goes with how they feel today.” You can keep going, do some push-ups, or sit in half-lotus. No dogma. Just listening 🙏.

The Sphinx and the Marriage with Gaia

Lying on your belly, pelvis pressed to the floor, the spine gently stretching upward. The sphinx. And this mantra of rare poetry:

“I breathe in through the nose, I breathe out through the pelvis, the first chakra. And I wed Gaia.”

To wed the Earth 🌍. Not to tread on her, not to pass across her — to wed her. To offer her your breath, to receive her vibration. This mantra alone turns the practice into a sacred act.

The Strap, the Foot, the Opening of the Heart

Lying on your back, the right leg rises with the strap. The forearms do the pulling — not the neck, never the neck. And Alexandre guides: “Gratitude, I love you. The heart opens.”

And we repeat, aloud or silently: “I love you, I love you, I love you. I surrender to you, to my inner yogi, I love you.” 💫

Whatever trembles is allowed to tremble. Whatever coughs is allowed to cough. Whatever yawns is allowed to yawn. “I express myself, it expresses itself.” The whole Anatman approach lies in that sentence: welcoming without judgment 🕊️ whatever the body wants to release.

Walking Without Self — The Central Teaching

Then came the pivotal moment. Standing, back against a wall or a window, shoulder blades pressed flat, head touching, feet rooted. Suspended by an invisible thread from the crown of the head. Absolute verticality. 🌟

And the mantra: “I welcome all my emotions, I welcome.” Then, holding that memorized posture, keeping that thread: “Walk.”

And then, a miracle. Eyes closed at first, then open. Walking happens. Without an I. Without a me. The body moves forward all by itself. You become the observer. You take in the landscape, the details of your surroundings, while your feet unfold their ancient wisdom.

“It walks without me — it actually doesn’t need me to walk.”

This realization ✨ is one of the most profoundly moving of the Non-Self. You always believed you were the one walking. And now you discover that the body knows. That it has always known. And that the me was nothing but a superfluous commentator.

The Session’s Postures

🧘 Vertical stretch on tiptoe — Urdhva Hastasana (variation)
The posture: Standing, feet parallel, the hands rise slowly toward the sky, thumbs hooked together. You lift up onto your toes, engaging calves, thighs, glutes and abs. The breath stays deep and through the nose, the head tilted slightly back.
Benefits for the body: Strengthens the calves, thighs and deep core muscles, lengthens the spine, improves balance and venous circulation in the legs.

🧘 Forward fold with hooked thumbs — Uttanasana (variation)
The posture: From standing, thumbs hooked behind the back, you gently lean forward as the arms rise toward the sky. Then you bring the hands down toward the floor, bending the knees if needed.
Benefits for the body: Stretches the hamstrings, calves and lower back, opens the shoulders and rib cage, supports venous return.

🧘 The right angle — Ardha Uttanasana
The posture: Hands resting on the knees, back horizontal, forming a right angle with the straight legs. Gaze forward, the neck in line with the spine.
Benefits for the body: Strengthens the paraspinal muscles, stretches the hamstrings, improves posture and spinal alignment.

🧘 Lateral elbow bends — Anatman movement
The posture: Arms raised high, the right elbow bends and drops behind the neck, then the left elbow. You draw the shoulder blades in with each out-breath, feeling the stretch on the opposite side.
Benefits for the body: Stretches the triceps, shoulders and sides of the body, releases tension in the trapezius, opens the rib cage.

🧘 Big neck and torso circles — Anatman movement
The posture: The chin traces large circles, the whole body following the movement, even dipping forward with the hands. You change direction without ever holding your breath.
Benefits for the body: Loosens the cervical spine, mobilizes the entire spine, releases tension in the lower back, improves coordination.

🧘 Arms outstretched against invisible walls — Anatman movement
The posture: Standing, feet rooted, the arms open out into a cross and push sideways as if against invisible walls, forming perfect right angles.
Benefits for the body: Strengthens the shoulders and upper back, improves posture, develops grounding and bodily presence.

🧘 Posture of surrender with backbend — Anuvittasana
The posture: Hands on the lower back, the spine stretches backward, the head tipped slightly back. Legs straight, glutes and thighs engaged, the heart opens toward the sky.
Benefits for the body: Stretches the abdominal muscles and the psoas, opens the chest, strengthens the lower back, encourages deep breathing.

🧘 Pelvic circles — Anatman movement
The posture: Standing, knees soft, the pelvis traces wider and wider circles, first one way, then the other. Breathe in through the nose, breathe out through the mouth.
Benefits for the body: Loosens the hips, lubricates the hip joints, frees the first and second chakras, aids digestion.

🧘 Deep squat — Malasana (preparatory variation)
The posture: Back straight, head high, you lower into a squat and rise again at your own pace, in preparation for the frog and the skier.
Benefits for the body: Strengthens the thighs, glutes and calves, makes the ankles and hips more supple, builds muscular endurance.

🧘 The frog — Malasana
The posture: Crouched in a deep squat, back straight, head upright, gaze forward. You practice the breath of fire: exhaling through the nose, the inhalation happening on its own, at its own rhythm.
Benefits for the body: Deeply opens the hips, stretches the ankles and groin, stimulates the digestive system, oxygenates and energizes through the breath of fire.

🧘 The sphinx — Salamba Bhujangasana
The posture: Lying on your belly, pelvis pressed to the floor, forearms resting in front, elbows beneath the shoulders. The spine gently lengthens, the head lifts, gaze forward.
Benefits for the body: Strengthens the lower back, gently stretches the front of the body, opens the chest, stimulates the abdominal organs.

🧘 Strap stretch (straight leg) — Supta Padangusthasana
The posture: Lying on your back, the right leg rises, the strap catches the foot, and the forearms pull without tensing the neck. Press lightly through the heel of the other leg.
Benefits for the body: Deeply stretches the hamstrings, calves and lower back, improves hip flexibility, releases pelvic tension.

🧘 Reclining posture with hands behind the head — Anatman movement
The posture: Lying on your back, hands behind the head, elbows open to the right and left, knees bent or straight depending on how you feel.
Benefits for the body: Stretches the shoulder blades and upper back, opens the rib cage, encourages full, expansive breathing, releases tension in the neck.

🧘 Conscious walking against the wall — Anatman movement
The posture: Back pressed against a wall or a window, shoulder blades, back, buttocks and head touching it. You memorize that verticality, then walk while keeping the invisible thread that suspends the skull, eyes closed at first, then open.
Benefits for the body: Retrains posture, strengthens the deep postural muscles, improves balance, anchors awareness in the sensations of the soles of the feet.

It walks without me — it actually doesn’t need me to walk.

To life: I love you, I love you, I surrender to you. I trust you, and I am you.

I join pleasure and stretching together. I release in love everything that keeps me from feeling pleasure.
